The prestigious Royal Blackheath Golf Club is to be the setting for LASER Education Foundation’s first fundraising event, taking place on 12 May 2025.
The Golf Day will bring together corporate partners and industry leaders for a day of competitive golf and networking – while raising crucial funds to support education and mentoring programmes for disadvantaged children and young people across the region.
Construction services and property group Kier, is the first of our lead sponsor for the event. 100 guests are expected to take part, with 18 teams competing on the fairways of one of south east London’s best golf courses.
The event is offering businesses the chance to showcase their commitment to CSR and support their communities, while having the opportunity to network with other employers and enjoy a fantastic afternoon of golf.
The recently launched LASER Education Foundation is a new charity created by London & South East Education Group to support disadvantaged children, their families, and communities, across the region.
LASER’s overarching mission is to ensure that everyone has access to the education and opportunities they need to thrive and succeed in life, regardless of their background. This will be achieved through the development and implementation of innovative educational programmes and mentoring schemes for young people. Proceeds from the Golf Day and other upcoming events will go towards funding music therapy sessions for learners with autism and travel bursaries for students from low-income households.
Regional Director for Kier Construction London & Thames Valley, John Bolton, says:“We are delighted to be involved in the first fundraising event for the recently launched LASER Education Foundation.”
“At Kier we aim to leave a positive legacy in all the communities we work in, providing support to deprived areas and disadvantaged and vulnerable people who need it the most.”
“This event will be a great opportunity to bring our own team together, while supporting the Foundation and the many disadvantaged communities it will help across London and the south east.”
Deputy CEO of the LASER Education Foundation, Louise Wolsey, adds:“For our very first corporate fundraising event, we are delighted to be hosting a golf day at such a prestigious venue. By bringing businesses together in this way, we can support and positively impact the lives of young people in our communities, while facilitating networking and corporate opportunities for our guests.
“As an organisation, we are committed to transforming lives through the power of learning. We understand the great level of need across our communities through the work of our schools and FE college – and through LASER, we can support even more people to access opportunities and achieve their potential and ambitions. “We would be delighted for further corporate partners to join us and help us make this event a real success.”
There are several ways to get involved, including:
